Health authorities reiterated that inter-provincial travel restrictions were lifted from yesterday to maintain public service and not for leisure and other unnecessary movements. 

Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena said provincial travel restrictions were lifted to ensure that essential services to the public are maintained without hindrance.

Dr. Gunawardena said that the people should continue to abide by the health regulations and if they do not do so, coronavirus waves will re-emerge.

He also said that the people should act responsibly even if the provincial travel restrictions are lifted. Provincial travel restrictions were imposed continually for more than two months.
