Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll yesterday rose to 2,011 with health authorities confirming 101 COVID-19 deaths, including 88 that occurred in June.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information (DGI), 27 COVID-19 deaths occurred on 6 June and 27 COVID-19 deaths occurred the following day. The deaths confirmed yesterday also include that of an individual who died on 6 February and an individual who died on 1 April. Eleven deaths occurred between 15 May and 29 May.
Fifty-seven persons died while receiving medical care, 30 died at home, and 14 were dead at the time of admission to a treatment centre.
The DGI adds that, of the 101 persons who passed away, 53 were male and 48 were female. In terms of age, 30 persons aged between 60 and 69 years, 25 persons aged between 70 and 79 years, and 21 persons of ages between 80 and 89 years were among the deaths confirmed yesterday.
