SL receives 70,200 Pfizer vaccine doses

A shipment of 70,200 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the island yesterday and as of Sunday 46,753 persons had received the first dose of Pfizer.

Sri Lanka received 52,000 doses of the vaccine in two batches earlier this month.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 10,088 persons received the first dose of Moderna on Sunday, when administration of the vaccine began.

The first dose of Sinopharm was administered to 71,674 persons on Sunday, when 10,816 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. In total, 4,534,165 persons have received the first dose of Sinopharm and 1,286,215 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.

In addition to this, 925,242 persons have received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 385,885 persons have received the second dose of AstraZeneca.

In total, the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 5,628,576 persons and the second dose has been administered to 1,686,564 persons. Among persons above the age of 30 in the Western Province, 81% of persons in Colombo District, 79% of persons in Gampaha District, and 77% of persons in Kalutara District have been vaccinated.
