164,308 persons vaccinated against COVID-19 on Wednesday

The number of persons to receive both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine exceeded five million with 164,308 persons vaccinated on Wednesday.

At present, the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Pfizer, and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are being administered in Sri Lanka and 12,019,193 persons have received the first dose of a vaccine and 5,124,185 persons have received both doses of a vaccine.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 44.6% of the country’s population over 30 has received both doses of a vaccine, with over 70% second dose coverage achieved in Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara Districts.

First dose coverage has been achieved in full in the Colombo, Gampaha, Vavuniya, Matale, Galle, Kandy, Ratnapura, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota, and Kalutara Districts.

On Wednesday, 27,888 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 95,533 persons received the second dose of Sinopharm. The total number to receive the first dose of the vaccine is 9,521,900, of which 4,167,616 have received the second dose as well.

The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,314,937 persons and the second dose of the vaccine has been administered to 874,236 persons. This includes persons vaccinated on Wednesday, when 7,155 persons received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 665 persons received the second dose of AstraZeneca.

64 persons received the first dose of Pfizer on Wednesday and 613 persons received the second dose of Pfizer on Wednesday. In total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 252,554 persons and the second dose to 40,496 persons.

On Wednesday, the first dose of Moderna was administered to 5,070 persons and, in total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 770,721 persons. Administration of the second dose of Moderna commenced on Wednesday and 27,320 persons have received the second dose.

The Epidemiology Unit states that the Sputnik V first dose has been administered to 159,081 persons and the second dose to 14,517 persons.
