Over 70% of the country’s population over the age of 30 have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, with the first dose administered to 12,468,949 persons and the second dose administered to 8,169,232 persons.
Second dose coverage exceeds 70% of the eligible population in the Western Province and Galle, Matale, Kandy, Hambantota, and Ampara Districts. The Epidemiology Unit states that 71.1% of the country’s population over the age of 30 have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
At present, the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are being administered in the country and, on Tuesday, 511,142 persons received the first or second dose of a vaccine.
This includes 41,166 persons who received the first dose of Sinopharm and 442,237 persons who received the second dose of Sinopharm. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to a total of 9,845,634 persons, of which 6,396,905 have received the second dose as well.
The first dose of AstraZeneca was administered to 4,018 persons on Tuesday and 485 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. In total, the first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,386,168 persons and the second dose has been administered to 885,617 persons.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 771,656 persons have received the first dose of Moderna and 674,382 have received the second dose of the vaccine. This includes persons vaccinated on Tuesday, when 169 persons received the first dose of Moderna and 21,405 persons received the second dose of the vaccine.
On Tuesday, 1,645 persons received the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, and 169 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. In total, the first dose has been administered to 306,403 persons and the second dose has been administered to 186,839 persons.
A total of 159,088 persons have received the first dose of Sputnik V and 25,489 persons have received the second dose.
