The first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 490,805 persons on Monday, raising the number of persons to receive the first dose of a vaccine to 11,260,795 and the number of persons to have received both doses to 3,249,670.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, persons vaccinated on Monday include 153,958 persons who received the first dose of Sinopharm and 307,267 persons who received the second dose of Sinopharm. In total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 8,948,551 persons and the second dose to 2,369,042 persons. The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,152,584 persons and the second dose to 865,364 persons. This includes persons vaccinated on Monday, of which 25,576 received the first dose of the vaccine and 3,620 received the second dose. On Monday, the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 169 persons and the second dose to 215 persons. In total, 251,643 persons have received the first dose of the vaccine while 748 persons have received the second dose as well.
In addition to this, the first dose of Moderna has been administered to 748,936 persons, the first dose of Sputnik V to 159,081 persons, and the second dose of Sputnik V to 14,516 persons.
Meanwhile, a consignment of 15,000 doses of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine reached the island last night and these are second dose products. The vaccine doses will be used in the Kandy District.
