COVID-19 vaccines were administered to 93,346 persons on Monday, raising the total number of persons on the island to receive both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine to 11,662,496.
The first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 14,433,611 persons.
This includes 11,561,171 persons who have received the first dose of Sinopharm, of which 9,221,621 persons have received the second dose as well. On Monday, 32,525 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 26,220 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. The first dose of AstraZeneca was administered to 2,981 persons on Monday and 23,679 persons received the second dose of AstraZeneca that day. In total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 1,458,291 persons, of which 1,234,302 persons have received the second dose as well.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 795,595 persons have received the first dose of Moderna and 759,697 persons have received the second dose of Moderna. On Monday, 4,625 persons received the first dose of Moderna and 24 persons received the second dose of Moderna.
The first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 1,553 persons on Monday and the second dose of the vaccine was administered to 31 persons. In total, the first dose of Pfizer has been administered to 459,465 persons and the second dose has been administered to 291,505 persons. The second dose of Sputnik V was administered to 1,708 persons on Monday, raising the number of persons to have received both doses of Sputnik V to 155,371. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 159,089 persons.
According to Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians Council Member Dr. Surantha Perera, vaccination of children with comorbidities in the 12 to 19 age group will commence in all districts starting 1 October.
