5 COVID-19 deaths bring fatalities to 476

The total COVID-19 fatalities in the country rose to 476 with health authorities confirming five COVID-19 deaths yesterday.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 73-year-old individual from Ganemulla tested positive for COVID-19 at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital and was transferred to the Pimbura Base Hospital, where she died of COVID pneumonia and gallbladder cancer yesterday.

A 75-year-old individual from Pujapitiya also died yesterday. According to health authorities, she was admitted to the Teldeniya Base Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 at the Kandy National Hospital. The cause of death was cited as COVID pneumonia and heart failure.

On 28 February, an individual from Kandy died of COVID pneumonia while receiving treatment at the Kandy National Hospital. He was 61 years old.

An individual from Colombo 10 tested positive for COVID-19 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and was admitted to the Pimbura Base Hospital. However, on 26 February, he died of COVID pneumonia and acute diabetes. The individual was 75 years old.

On 11 February, an 83-year-old individual from Bulathkohupitiya died of COVID pneumonia while receiving treatment at the Karanawella Base Hospital.
