Health officials confirmed 38 COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, raising the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 13,267.
The COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Thursday include 26 persons over the age of 60 and 12 persons in the 30 to 59 age group. The Epidemiology Unit states that 76.52% of the total fatalities are over the age of 60, 22.31% are from the 30 to 59 age group, and 1.16% are below the age of 30.
The Epidemiology Unit adds that 7,413 fatalities confirmed are male and 5,854 fatalities are female. Twenty COVID-19 deaths confirmed on Thursday were male and 18 were female.
Meanwhile, Family Health Bureau Child Morbidity and Mortality Unit Head Dr. Kapila Jayaratne yesterday urged parents to seek medical care if a child displays symptoms like fever or a cough.
“As of last Friday, 67 deaths had been reported from the under-18 age group and 13 of the deaths occurred at home. Of the remaining deaths, 95% were brought to a hospital at the last minute,” he said.
