The total COVID-19 patient count rose to 86,343 with the detection of 304 COVID-19 patients yesterday.
This includes 283 associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and five persons linked to the Prisons cluster. The Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda and Prisons clusters have expanded to 82,052 patients.
The total patient count also includes 2,174 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad, 950 Navy personnel and their contacts, 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu cluster and 187 foreigners.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 28,614 persons from Colombo District, 17,039 persons from Gampaha District, 6,325 persons from Kalutara District, 4,040 persons from Kandy District and 2,437 persons from Kurunegala District have tested positive for COVID-19 to date.
The district distribution of patients includes the 344 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, of which 65 were from Gampaha, 54 were from Colombo, 47 were from Galle, 28 were from Ratnapura and 26 were from Jaffna.
The Epidemiology Unit adds that 3,079 persons are currently under medical care at various treatment centres. Of the active patients, 211 persons are at the Hambantota District General Hospital, 181 persons are at the Warakapola Base Hospital and 177 persons are at the Kahawatte Treatment Centre.
Hospitals also have 469 persons suspected of having COVID-19 under observation.
In addition to this, 240 persons were discharged from hospitals yesterday, including 20 persons from the Wathupitiwela Treatment Centre, 18 persons from the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital and 15 persons from the Hikkaduwa Treatment Centre. A total of 82,753 persons have recovered from the virus to date.
According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 7,575 PCR tests were performed on Monday.
