  • Says security forces have taken maximum measures to ensure people’s safety and security

Secretary to President Maithripala Sirisena Udaya R. Seneviratne said last night that there is no imminent security or terror threat to the country, and urged the public not to be misled by reports to the contrary.

In a special statement, Seneviratne said that all measures have been taken by security forces to ensure maximum security to the people.

The statement said rumours are being circulated by those with vested interests to instil fear among the public, by publicising a circular issued after the April terror attacks on measures taken to increase security at Government institutions. “Members of the public are urged not to fall prey to rumours being spread about an imminent terror attack,” the President’s Secretary said in the statement.
