SLIIT commences enrolment for June intake

SLIIT, ranked as the number one higher education institute by LMD recently, commenced enrolment of students for its undergraduate programs for the June intake, in the fields of IT and Business. For over a decade, SLIIT has been recognised as the leading degree awarding institute in the fields of IT, Business and Engineering. SLIIT maintains the best international academic standards, ensuring that the teaching and learning process is of high credibility. The degrees offered by SLIIT are approved by the University Grants Commission under the Universities Act. There are six fields of specialisations for those interested in pursuing the SLIIT BSc. Special Honours degree in Information Technology; these include Information Technology, Computer Systems and Networking, Software Engineering, Interactive Media, Information Systems and Cyber Security. The four year BBA Special Honours degree in Business Management offers specialisations in Marketing Management, Accounting and Finance, Human Capital Management, Quality Management and Management Information Systems. “SLIIT has an impressive line-up of partner universities in the United Kingdom, Australia, United States, and Canada. These partner universities are highly ranked, with an international focus, and they consistently deliver high quality education,” said SLIIT President and CEO Professor Lalith Gamage. “These affiliations are an opportunity for our students to carve out numerous pathways to complete their degree at SLIIT or to transfer to a partner university after two years of study at SLIIT.”  Currently, SLIIT has partnered with 23 partner universities overseas. SLIIT Chairman/Chancellor Professor S. Karunaratne notes, “Our goal is to give students the ultimate University experience. Going beyond academics, we provide career guidance, extra-curricular activities, continuous assessments and other relevant soft skills such as leadership abilities to prepare them to face the real world.” In addition to the wide range of academic programs, SLIIT also encouraged student participation in competitions such as the CodeFest, RoboFest and other software competitions, symposiums and extra-curricular activities such as talent shows, sports days and community-based projects, he added. In order to gain entrance at SLIIT’s degree programs, a candidate would need to achieve three pass grades at the local or London GCE Advanced Levels examinations in the same sitting. In addition, the student would need to pass the special aptitude test conducted by SLIIT. Those students interested in pursuing a degree in Computer Systems and Networking are required to have a pass in either Mathematics or Physics. Interested candidates should hand over their completed applications by 19 May. The aptitude test for entrance will take place on 24 May, at all SLIIT campuses and centres.
