Registrations are now open for the Cambridge Schools’ Conference, an annual conference attended by Cambridge teachers from across the globe. The conference will be held at the Northshore College of Business and Technology, Colombo from 3-5 December 2014, under the theme ‘Inspiring teaching, inspiring learning’. It will explore the methodologies and best practices to promote classroom learning. The conference will provide a platform for discussion and debate on topics affecting the teaching environment, from teaching methods for lifetime learning to developing the balance between understanding and qualifications preparations in teaching. Speaking ahead of the event, Cambridge International Examinations CEO Michael O’Sullivan said: “The Cambridge Schools Conference is a unique opportunity for teachers and principals of Cambridge schools to come together to share best practice and teaching methods to develop confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged learners. The conference is designed to improve the participant’s professional practices through networking and learning opportunities. The coming together of these teaching professionals is a platform to facilitate exchange of ideas and views across regions and ensure broadening of innovative ideas across our global Cambridge network.” Attended by professors, teaching professionals and institution heads from South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia Pacific, the conference will include speeches from eminent education sector leaders. Leading educationists including Visiting Professor of Education at King’s College London, Guy Claxton and Professor of Education and Pro-Director (Teaching, Quality and Learning Innovation) at the Institute of Education London, Norbert Pachler, will explore topics including creating independent lifelong learners and the value of research for teaching. In addition to the conference keynotes, participants will be able to attend subject workshops that will focus on a variety of topics including language and literature, mathematics, sciences, humanities, primary and the arts.
