The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan, supported by the Ministry of Economic Development, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and ADEX Advertising Agency, was actively engaged in a Sri Lanka Tourism Promotional campaign which commenced in October 2011.With the assistance of these institutions, a very effective tourism promotion campaign in Japan was conducted by the Embassy which included press and television advising, travel agent seminars, familiarisation tours, bus, taxi and train advertising.
Japanese tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka have doubled during the last two years and the first seven months ending July 2013 recorded an increase of 26% in comparison with the previous year. The effective tourism promotional campaign in Japan has created awareness among the Japanese people of Sri Lanka as a safe and attractive destination for the traveller.
