International Hospitality Conference 2014 from 28-29 January

Institute of Hospitality, United Kingdom, Sri Lanka’s International Group is once again organizing a conference for hospitality professionals in the New Year and it is scheduled for 28 and 29 January at The Kingsbury, Colombo. At a press conference held recently, the Chairman of the Institute of Hospitality of Sri Lanka Chapter Roshan Perera, FIH briefed the media that leading hoteliers from Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom will make presentations. They will focus on key areas in hospitality and tourism management and some of the topics that will be addressed at the conference is Branding, Talent Management and HR Challenge, Hospitality Hotel Standards, Health & Safety, Sustainable Tourism and Destination Marketing to name a few. Each day will consist of four subjects and after each presentation a panel discussion will follow. Perera said that they have invited key industry professionals to be in each panel which will give the participants in-depth knowledge in each subject besides the presentation made. This two day certification program is part of the Institute of Hospitality’s Professional Development Assistance Program to its members and to the hospitality industry at large. The event will be restricted to only 100 participants in order to have better interaction and early reservation is advised, said conference Chair and Past Chairman of the Institute of Hospitality Sri Lanka Chapter Eraj Abeywardena, FIH. Addressing the media Kingsbury Director/General Manager Sunil Dissanayake who is a very senior hotelier in Sri Lanka spoke of the difficulty in finding the right personnel to run hotels today and appreciated the initiation taken by the Institute of Hospitality to train personnel to take up future challenges and said that they are with the Institute in this endeavour as the official hotel and will always be supporting the Institute of Hospitality in any program to train personnel in the hotel industry. Senior Vice Chairman of the Institute of Hospitality Harsha Jayasinghe, Vice Chairman Sidath Kodikara, Secretary Renuka Jayamanne and Treasurer S. Anandaraj were also present at the brief.
