Cocoon Resort and Villas – Induruwa:
Cocoon Resort and Villas which is based 65km from Colombo is set in over 8.5 acres of pristine landscaped greenery. The resort is cantered on extravagance and quality in service, thus creating an oasis of tranquillity, privacy, warmth and luxurious comfort.
The 16 ‘silk rooms’ priced at the lower end of this luxurious resort comes complete with an large jacuzzi, a spacious terrace and/or balcony and has been designed in a very warm and classy style. Imported flooring in the rooms and villas are made using porcelain granite floors that are soothing to the feet but also provide an anti slip safety feature.
The toilets have been designed with a rustic and spacious feel and come equipped to keep ones experience in a state of peace. There are five extravagant villas, two luxury villas, well designed family villas and three grand villas. The grand villa will give you a chance to relax and be revitalised in the resort’s most indulgent accommodation. It is approximately 1,100 sq ft, includes a private pool, office desk, king-size bed and much more that you would expect from Cocoon Resorts.
The resort has a large swimming pool and stunning water features, in addition to a spa that offers high-end treatments to rejuvenate your mind and body. There is a whirlpool, steam rooms, sauna and a gym. ‘The Stage’ is a very unique feature to Cocoon Resorts and Villas, local dance and drum artists showcase their talents in a very simple but elite seating format to that of the ancient Roman spas.
The management and service is of the highest standard where guests will feel at home upon arrival. In speaking with Cocoon Resorts Deputy Chairman Sandesh K. Sharma, I could automatically understand the vision that the team has put together. The resorts boasts having its own water supply and only if supplies are low, will staff order in from outside. Rice, fruits and vegetables are all grown organically at an estate owned by Cocoon Resorts and can be toured by guests for a tasty educational experience.
The place is tastefully decorated and caters for anybody who is looking to be close to the elements in style. The Deputy Chairman went on to share, “The greatest degree of service is what we look to provide. Today it seems that people are willing to pay to stay in top hotels, but the level of service does not match the customer value required in other hotels. Our staff understands the customer’s needs. We have a very bright and caring team who are willing to go that extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction.”
The signature restaurant offers exceptional multi cuisine, in addition to a wide range of authentic Indian cuisine made by Chefs from India with impressive credentials. To note that throughout all of my hotel visits in Sri Lanka, the food at Cocoon Resorts has been the most pleasing with a specific joyful memory of their tandoori chicken cooked to perfection. The Spanish style outdoor seating areas known as ‘wadiyas’ will pamper guest with a unique outdoor private dining experience under a myriad of stars.
There are plenty of excursions for those wishing to explore the area including; Galle Dutch Fort, scuba diving and snorkelling, expeditions, tours of the underwater coral gardens in Hikkaduwa, or visit the natural blow hole in Dickwella, just to name a few.
Guests at the resort can also access its private beach in Kosgoda, walking distance from the hotel. Pristine, unadulterated golden sands with sparkling turquoise waves set the scene to sip on revitalising king coconuts as you relax under swaying palm trees.
