The Sri Lanka MICE Expo 2026 (SL-MICE Expo 2026), organized by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), the national MICE tourism organisation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, officially commenced yesterday at Shangri-La Colombo. The multi-day event is designed to position Sri Lanka as a premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE).
With over 120 hosted international MICE and travel operators, together with media representatives from 26 countries, the Expo provides a significant platform to strengthen Sri Lanka’s position on the global MICE map. It brings together local and international stakeholders to showcase their products, services and innovative solutions, while creating opportunities for business development, networking and collaboration among leading MICE professionals from around the world.
The inauguration was held under the patronage of Tourism and Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath, Deputy Tourism Minister Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, Foreign Affairs Ministry Secretary Aruni Ranaraja together with other distinguished guests and industry stakeholders.
The proceedings commenced on 5 October 2026 with a MICE Business Forum and welcome reception at Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The Business Forum featured a destination presentation and a high-level panel discussion focusing on Sri Lanka’s potential and opportunities as a global MICE destination.
The program continued yesterday with the official Opening Ceremony and B2B business sessions at Shangri-La Colombo, bringing together over 125 Sri Lankan MICE suppliers and service providers with international hosted buyers. The B2B program is expected to facilitate more than 10,000 business meetings, creating valuable opportunities for partnerships, business development and future events in Sri Lanka.
The Expo program will culminate in a Gala Dinner at Bellevue Beach Club, Port City Colombo, providing international buyers, media and local industry stakeholders with an opportunity to experience Sri Lanka’s distinctive hospitality and vibrant MICE offerings.
Following the Expo, the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau will facilitate a post-event familiarisation tour to the Cultural Triangle, giving hosted buyers the opportunity to explore some of Sri Lanka’s iconic destinations and unique experiences. The program will showcase the country’s world-class MICE facilities, breathtaking natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, diverse tourism experiences and modern infrastructure, further highlighting Sri Lanka as an ideal destination for international MICE and business events.
Through SL-MICE Expo 2026, Sri Lanka continues to demonstrate its capability to host international meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions while offering a unique combination of business opportunities, exceptional hospitality and unforgettable destination experiences.
