Responding to a timely and augmenting demand globally as well as locally and fulfilling a niche in terms of wellness tourism in Sri Lanka, Spa Ceylon Ayurveda Wellness in partnership with Shangri-La Colombo, has introduced the ground-breaking concept of SleepCation, a vacation that prioritises deep, restorative and luxurious sleep for the first time in Sri Lanka. SleepCation is a curated, luxury wellness experience, combining Spa Ceylon’s internationally renowned Sleep intense wellness range and their guided sleep meditation within a comfortable and luxurious quiet wing of the Shangri-La Colombo.

SleepCation is a unique wellness retreat for almost anyone in today’s fast paced and stressful world but is expected to greatly benefit business professionals, corporate teams, tourists seeking to incorporate wellness into their holiday and busy and fatigued parents of young children. “Tonight, the world can wait” is the apt advice displayed on a pouch meant for a mobile phone kept on the bedside table of each room dedicated to SleepCation at the hotel. The soothing aromas of the Spa Ceylon sleep intense range envelopes the guest from the moment he or she steps into the room and a sleep intense discovery set consisting of a relaxing shower gel, balm and pillow mist promises to sooth the body, quieten the mind and promote rejuvenating rest. The television is programmed to provide a twenty-minute guided meditation with soft background music that will ease and blackout on its own.

Shangri-La Colombo General Manager, Herve Duboscq said: “At Shangri- La Colombo, we believe true hospitality centres on creating meaningful moments of balance and well-being. Sleep, which is essential to good health is sadly neglected in today’s dynamic world and this is the reason that together with Spa Ceylon we are offering our guests the opportunity to slow down, disconnect and rediscover the power of restorative rest in an environment of care and comfort.”

Bookings for SleepCation is available from 20 October 2025, and guests who opt for this wellness escape will be bestowed with the ultimate restorative retreat as the hotel will garner in-depth information from our valued guests as to their preferred room temperature and the choice of pillows from an extensive pillow menu.

“Fine linens, black-out curtains, on-demand service and meals delivered directly to rooms will ensure complete, uninterrupted rest for the guests throughout their stay. Guests will also be escorted directly to the room bypassing the busy reception and no employee will enter a guest room unless invited nor call the guest. All communication will happen via WhatsApp to ensure that our valued guests are undisturbed at all times,” added Duboscq at a recent press briefing.

Spa Ceylon Co- Founder and Group Director, Shalin Balasuriya said: “People over the world yearn for good sleep and we, as a brand that prioritises the wellbeing and comfort of our clientele, saw the timely necessity for this venture. We have amalgamated the luxurious comfort in service and attention to detail offered by Shangri-La Colombo with the holistic wellness offered by Spa Ceylon and created SleepCation, an innovative wellness retreat for the first time in Sri Lanka. This is a proud moment for our country when sleep centred tourism is gaining momentum all over the world.”

“Everywhere I go, if I’m to inquire about the biggest wellness challenge faced by people, it is the lack of good quality sleep. The fact that people are beginning to prioritise sleep is evident to us as our sleep and sleep intense ranges remain our top sellers across the globe. Beyond personal recharge, we believe that this novel concept of SleepCation will also promote wellness tourism in Sri Lanka,” he added.

SleepCation will offer guests a one or two night stay package on single occupancy on bed and breakfast basis, inclusive of a complimentary Spa Ceylon sleep intense home spa set.
