Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General Ltd., (SLICGL) has launched Adventure Plus, the first-of-its-kind personal accident cover designed exclusively for tourists visiting Sri Lanka, strengthening the tourism industry and contributing to economic growth.

Adventure Plus is a pioneering innovation providing medical coverage, accident protection, and emergency evacuation for higher-risk pursuits such as hiking, cycling, water sports, and jungle activities—protection that tourists cannot access through their existing insurance, regardless of provider. Rather than replacing a traveller’s current policy, Adventure Plus fills the gap, covering what standard policies exclude.

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has grown in diversity, attracting visitors drawn to its coastal waters, wildlife reserves, and adventure circuits. The product gives tour operators, agents, and travellers a straightforward, affordable way to extend their protection

As the national insurer, SLICGL continues to innovate with products that address national priorities, safeguard communities, and support Sri Lanka’s progress. Adventure Plus illustrates this mission, enabling tourists to embrace thrills, knowing protection is always within reach.

Developed in partnership with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the product elevates Sri Lanka’s profile as a trusted, affordable, and adventure-ready travel destination.

Priced at just $ 8 per person for 30 days, Adventure Plus provides medical coverage, accident protection, and emergency evacuation for adventure sports and activities typically excluded from standard travel policies. Offering protection against higher-risk pursuits such as hiking, cycling, and water sports, the product ensures visitors can explore Sri Lanka’s diverse landscapes with confidence.

SLICGL intends to roll out the offering through the airport counters in the future, with support from the SLTDA. Incoming tourists will then have the opportunity to be informed of the solution’s availability through these dedicated counters.

SLICGL Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sameera Dharmasena said: “Sri Lanka offers extraordinary experiences – from the highlands to the coast, the jungles to the surf. We want visitors to explore all of it with the confidence that, if something goes wrong, they have protection. Our theme is ‘Thrills are yours; protection is ours.’ As the national insurer, it is our responsibility to support the growth of tourism, and Adventure Plus is a direct expression of this commitment.”

SLTDA Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam said: “Sri Lanka has always had the landscapes, the culture, and the experiences to compete with the world’s best adventure destinations. What we needed was the infrastructure to match. Adventure Plus is a meaningful step towards positioning Sri Lanka as a responsible, tourist-ready destination—one where visitors feel genuinely safe. The partnership with SLICGL supports exactly the kind of collaboration needed to advance national tourism.”
