A locally built digital gateway designed to empower the traveller, support local service providers, and strengthen Sri Lanka’s tourism economy
LilyLanka, a locally developed digital travel platform created to enhance the tourism experience across the country went live recently.
LilyLanka began as a dream shared between a father and daughter. What started as a simple idea soon grew into a much larger vision. They recognised that while travellers had many ways to book parts of a journey, there was no single Sri Lankan platform that brought all essential elements together in one place. Most importantly, there was no system designed to ensure that more of the funds generated through tourism remained within the country.
Unlike traditional ways that plan trips on behalf of travellers, LilyLanka allows the traveller to shape a journey independently. Through one unified platform, the traveller can explore destinations, select accommodation, connect with local guides, arrange transport, and build an itinerary while ensuring secure and safe travel connectivity through eSIM integration linked to national networks.
It is designed to integrate the full spectrum of tourism service providers across Sri Lanka with tourists from around the world.
From homestays and boutique villas to licensed guides and transport operators, the platform creates a digital bridge that connects local service providers directly with the global tourist. By strengthening this connection, LilyLanka aims to help generate more tourism income within Sri Lanka rather than allowing it to flow outward through international intermediaries.
Tourism remains one of Sri Lanka’s most valuable sources of foreign exchange. Strengthening local participation within the tourism ecosystem contributes not only to individual businesses but also to the wider national economy.
In a pioneering step within Sri Lanka’s travel technology landscape, LilyLanka introduces direct access to travel insurance through the platform. In collaboration with People’s Insurance, the traveller can secure insurance coverage conveniently before arrival.
People’s Insurance brings an unprecedented service to the traveller, offering protection from the moment of touchdown until lift off. This provides significant benefits at an affordable range while giving added confidence to those visiting Sri Lanka.
This integration represents an industry first for a Sri Lankan travel platform and helps simplify the process of preparing for a journey.
Additionally the traveller can activate eSIM connectivity prior to arrival through its partnership with Dialog Axiata, ensuring seamless connectivity from the moment of landing. The app also includes a location-enabled SOS feature that works with the traveller’s consent. This feature can assist in an emergency or guide the user to the nearest location where help can be obtained.
These services are designed with one clear intention. Travel should be exciting and inspiring, but it should also feel safe and reassuring for every traveller.
The platform has been designed to operate with transparency, accountability, and reliability while supporting the continued development of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
