The largest South Korean Buddhist delegation to ever visit Sri Lanka comprising 130 lay and ordained monks arrived on Monday for a 10-day visit to the country.
They were representing the Choe Order of South Korea, the largest Buddhist sect in South Korea, with over 10,000 Buddhist temples.
Over 100 monks, including the Anunayake Thero of this sect, and 10 lay people joined this pilgrimage.
This group is also scheduled to implement a joint program with the South Korean Government to rescue the Sri Lankan people from the disaster situation they are facing.
A group of high-ranking officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ministry also arrived at the Katunayake Airport to welcome the group.
