Dimitri Cooray has been appointed to the Board of The Lighthouse Hotel PLC as an Executive Director.

He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Ruan Samarasinghe.

Dimitry holds a Bachelor of Business International Hotel and Resort Management (Australia), and a Diploma – Hotel Management (Singapore).

Dmitri is a dynamic leader representing the third generation of the Cooray family in the hospitality industry.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Business in International Hotel and Resort Management from the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Sydney NSW Australia and a Diploma in Hotel Management from SHATEC Institutes, Singapore.

He has extensive experience working with leading hotels in Singapore and Australia before joining Jetwing Hotels in 2015. Dmitri has held various roles within the company, including Manager Operations and Deputy Managing Director, contributing significantly to the group’s growth and success.

Dmitri is the Managing Director of Jetwing Hotels Ltd., overseeing all operational functions of the company. He currently serves as an executive committee member of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) from 2021 to date. He represents THASL as a board member of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB). He also serves as the Chairman of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Sri Lanka Chapter from the year 2022 and a board member of PATA International from 2023 to date. He also serves as a director of various privately-owned companies within the Jetwing group. He is also a Director at Jetwing Hotels Ltd., Lanka Dhiviya Ltd., Four C’s Ltd., Five C’s Ltd., Galle Heritage Homes Ltd., Negombo Heritage Homes Ltd, Saman Villas Ltd, Kosgoda Villas Ltd, Sky C-23 Ltd, Yarl Hotel Services Ltd., D.H.H. Lanka Ltd., Hotel J City Beds Ltd., Pearl Garden Mills Ltd., Warwick Water Ltd., Bawa at Bauddhaloka Ltd., Ceylon Cinnamon Traders Ltd., and Trader J Ltd.

Before becoming Managing Director, Dmitri worked closely with industry veterans Ruan Samarasinghe and Hiran Cooray for nearly a decade. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in navigating Jetwing Hotels through various challenges and opportunities in the hospitality sector. Dmitri’s dedication to the family business and his innovative approach to hospitality management have positioned Jetwing Hotels as a leading brand in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. He remains focused on enhancing guest experiences and expanding the company’s footprint both locally and internationally.
