Classic Destinations has been named Best Destination Management Company (DMC) out of India at the ICONIC Tourism Summit 2025, a landmark event that brought together influential voices and brands from tourism, hospitality, and luxury.
Organised by Redhat Communications in collaboration with TV9 Network, the ICONIC Tourism Summit gathered policymakers, diplomats, industry leaders, innovators, and cultural ambassadors for a day of dialogue and recognition. The event culminated in the ICONIC Awards 2025, attended by Government of India Culture and Tourism Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as Chief Guest.
In addition to this recognition, Classic Destinations Head Chalaka Gajabahu represented Sri Lanka and Classic Destinations as a panellist during the Summit. He contributed to the discussion “Shape the Journey Before It Begins – Itineraries are Influenced, Not Just Followed,” where he emphasised the importance of creating inspirational and personalised experiences that guide travellers even before their journey starts.
Classic Destinations stood out among international peers for its innovative approach, service excellence, and strong partnerships across India — reaffirming its position as a trusted partner in shaping meaningful travel experiences in the region.
Reflecting on the recognition, Gajabahu said: “India has always been a pivotal market for us, not just as a source of travellers to Sri Lanka but also as a partner in creating multi-destination experiences across the region. Being recognised as the Best DMC out of India at such a prestigious forum is a true honour and a testament to the dedication of our team in delivering world-class travel experiences.”
Adding his thoughts, Expolanka Leisure Chief Commercial Officer Sabry Bahaudeen said: “This award reflects the long-standing trust and collaboration we have built with our partners in India. Classic Destinations has consistently elevated Sri Lanka’s profile within the region, and this recognition further strengthens our commitment to positioning Sri Lanka as a leading destination for discerning travellers.”
