Cape Weligama, the iconic clifftop resort on Sri Lanka’s southern coast and part of Resplendent Ceylon, has achieved a rare Condé Nast Traveller “Triple Crown”, having been recognised across three of the publication’s most prestigious accolades: the Condé Nast Traveller Hot List, Reader’s Choice Awards and Gold List. The resort is the only Sri Lankan property to make it to this prestigious list.

Resplendent Ceylon Chairman Malik Fernando said: This recognition goes beyond Resplendent Ceylon. It speaks to something larger - the spirit of Sri Lankan hospitality itself. Cape Weligama sits at the heart of the Southern coast, a region leading the country’s next chapter in tourism. It truly is a win for all Sri Lankans.”

The milestone places Cape Weligama among a select group of hotels worldwide to have earned recognition from Condé Nast Traveller throughout different stages of its journey, from being celebrated as one of the world’s most exciting new hotels to becoming an enduring icon of global hospitality through a decade of excellence.

This spans more than a decade of recognition, beginning with its inclusion on the prestigious Hot List in 2015, which celebrates the world’s most exciting new hotels. The resort has since been recognised in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards for five consecutive years. Most recently, Cape Weligama earned a place on the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List 2026, a distinction that completes a rare Condé Nast Traveller Triple Crown of recognition spanning the Hot List, Readers’ Choice Awards and Gold List. Together, these accolades reflect enduring excellence and reinforce Cape Weligama’s position among Asia’s most celebrated luxury resorts.
