Biman Bangladesh Airlines gets UL’s three-year Dhaka ground handling contract

Dhaka-based Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd., has won the contract to provide ground handling services (passenger, ground handling and cargo handling) to the national carrier—SriLankan Airlines in Dhaka International Airport for three years.

The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved the proposal by President Anura Kumara Disanayake in his capacity as the Finance, Planning, and Economic Development Minister to award the contract after company has submitted a proposal to continue the services beyond the current term. 

“Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the sole ground handling service provider for SriLankan Airlines at Dhaka Airport, currently holds the contract set to expire on 30 September 2025. The company has submitted a proposal to continue the services beyond the current term,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing on Tuesday.

Following evaluations and recommendations by the Bid Evaluation Committee and the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee, it was the approved to extend the ground handling services contract between SriLankan Airlines Ltd., and Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd., at Dhaka Airport for a further three years.

“The new contract will extend from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2028,” Dr. Jayatissa added.
