President off to Japan, fresh bilateral deals in the offing

President Mahinda Rajapaksa left to Tokyo last evening on an official four-day visit and is scheduled to meet Japanese leaders today.

The President is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Government officials.



The two countries will sign several bilateral agreements during the President’s tour and the Sri Lankan delegation is expected to hold discussions with Japanese business leaders on investment opportunities and tourism, according to Presidential media sources.

President Rajapaksa will also meet the Sri Lankan community in Japan. Japan and Sri Lanka marked the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries last year.
