The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday filed a petition in court, seeking the arrest of former LTTE chief arms procurer Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP.
JVP MP Vijitha Herath said that so far legal action has not been filed against KP despite the allegations against him.
KP is known to be in Kilinochchi where he is operating a children’s home under an NGO he registered while the former Government was in power.
Herath said that the JVP had today filed a petition in the Court of Appeal seeking the arrest of KP and an investigation into the allegations against him.
The JVP MP said the petition seeks the court intervention to issue instructions to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct investigations into KP.
Herath said that among the allegations against KP are the funds and gold he had and the ships which were registered under his name while the LTTE was still active.
The JVP MP said that KP was involved in assisting the forced recruitment of members to the LTTE during the war and yet he is now free while those forced to join the LTTE are in jail. (Colombo Gazette)
