First-ever global logistics expo makes good ground for business networking

The first-ever ‘Sri Lanka International Air Freight, Shipping & Logistics Expo 2012,’ which kicked off yesterday at the BMICH, proved a good business networking platform for visitors to interact with exhibitors comprising top names from the entire air freight, shipping and logistics sector of Sri Lanka.

The visitors to this exhibition came to get a glimpse of the shipping and freight forwarding   companies/agents, shipping liners, warehouse, bonded depot and cold storages, container, tank and bulk international trade ports, wharfs including cargo terminal, trucking, railway transport, airlines, cross border transportation, customs clearance brokers/companies, software/IT/automation for transportation/logistics – land, air and sea equipment/machinery for logistics, couriers and messengers, surveyors-marine associations, packing – crating and Government agencies/State enterprises that were on show.

“With so many logistics companies participating and the keen interest of the visitors to seek information and interact with them shows that this exhibition will go a long way and build a stronger logistics framework for our country,” said Rohan Masakorala, Senior Consultant – Strategic Enterprise Management Agency (SEMA), who visited the show in the morning.

“Such an event taking place with important companies participating will create awareness among all business sectors to visit to the show and evaluate what is good for them and also, at the same time, make the companies more conscious of their products and services and of improving their quality,” he added.

This premier event is organised by CEMS-Global USA & CEMS Lanka, in association with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).

DHL and McLarens Shipping Limited and GAC Logistics Limited are the Co-Partners of ‘Sri Lanka International Air Freight, Shipping & Logistics Expo 2012’. The exhibition is endorsed by SEMA, Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited, Sri Lanka Railways, Ceylon Association of Ships’ Agents (CASA) and the Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA).

Sri Lanka, with its excellent geographical proximity, is all set to soon be the most important destination for the world logistics industry, surpassing all previous records and become the newest one-of-a-kind hub for logistics in South Asia.

‘Sri Lanka International Air Freight, Shipping & Logistics Expo 2012’ is the first-ever and biggest meeting place ever held in Sri lanka for the world air freight, shipping and logistics industry and companies who are looking for inroads into Sri Lanka – the most sought-after and future logistics hub of Asia.

The exhibition ends today (Saturday) and will be open for trade/business visitors from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. upon registration.
