Over 3,200 industries across all categories have so far reported damage from Cyclone Ditwah, according to preliminary data compiled by the Industry Ministry, which stressed that the numbers remain subject to updates as assessments continue.

Industrialists have reported losses across 138 large-scale industries, 718 medium-scale industries, 1,134 small-scale industries, 1,009 micro-scale industries, and 285 export-oriented industries.

The Ministry said the Gampaha District accounts for the highest number of affected enterprises. Officials noted that the figures reflect only the information entered into the Ministry’s database to date and do not yet capture the full extent of the impact.

As part of the Government’s wider economic recovery program, a Rs. 200,000 grant will be provided to each industry affected by the disaster to help restore operations to a basic level of functionality.

The support is available to industrialists registered with the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry or with affiliated agencies, including the Export Development Board, Industrial Development Board, National Enterprise Development Authority, Small Enterprises Development Division, National Productivity Secretariat, National Crafts Council, and National Design Centre.

Applications for the grant can be submitted through www.industry.gov.lk or via Entrepreneurship Development Officers, Small Business Development Officers, Export Development Officers, and Productivity Promotion Officers attached to District and Divisional Secretariats.

The Ministry has also launched a dedicated reporting mechanism to gather verified data on industry damage. A hotline—071 266 6660—has been introduced, and affected business owners have been asked to submit details of losses before 2 p.m. on 16 December through www.industry.gov.lk or aid.floodsupport.org/business-impact. Support for data submission will be available through officers at Divisional and District Secretariats.

The Ministry said the information will be used to coordinate relief and guide follow-up assistance to rebuild affected industries.
