The magazine in its December 2014 issue reports that “the people are largely of the view that Sri Lanka achieved satisfactory progress on the economic front, with 60% of those polled in the latest TNS Lanka nationwide survey commenting to that effect. An equally enthusiastic number of respondents (66%) claim that measures aimed at national reconciliation saw the light of day in 2014.”
A notable 59% of the sample population also offer their backing to Sri Lanka’s business houses, LMD notes, “which according to them, thrived during the year – the growth in SMEs and support extended to the Samurdhi sector proved to be key in this regard.”
A spokesman for the magazine says: “Those who took part in this year-end survey feel that overall there’s been development in the country. A majority also feel that there’s been economic stability. The ongoing infrastructure development program has also caught the people’s imagination, according the survey findings.”
