Tree-planting drive in Biyagama industrial zone

With the Gampaha district being home to a number of factories and industrial zones, the Central Environmental Authority together with the Biyagama Pradeshiya Sabha held a tree-planting drive within factory premises to promote greater environmental awareness and balance.

The program was conducted together with ‘Breathe’ Environment and Sustainability Association, which coordinated the pilot project within the premises of some leading factories in the Biyagama area.

Over 176 varieties of flora and fauna including kumbuk, mee and karada trees have been chosen for this initiative, and the experience drawn from the pilot project will be used to expand the program to other facilities and areas.
