Three top players from HNB to participate in the Asian Netball Championship

Three top netballers including Captain Gayani Dissanayake, Vice Captain Darshika Abeywickrema and Gayanjali Amarawansa, all employees of Hatton National Bank, will be a part of the squad representing Sri Lanka at the 10th Asian Senior Netball Championships scheduled to take place from 30 July to 7 August in Thailand.

The International Netball Federation (IFNA) has directed the Asian Netball Federation to conduct this competition on the above-mentioned dates. At the last Asian netball tournament held in Singapore (2014), ten teams took part and Singapore emerged champions with Sri Lanka as the runners-up. This year too, ten teams are expected to take part in the event. They are Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Chinese Taipei and Myanmar. In the competition which commenced in 1985 Sri Lanka has won the Asian netball title on four occasions. They are 1989, 1997, 2001 and 2009.

The management of HNB along with the staff wished the entire netball team and especially their three employees all the success in the upcoming matches.
