Seylan Bank PLC recently joined hands with Swarnavahini and conducted a very successful cycle race in celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season. Organised by Swarnavahini, the title sponsor of the race was ‘Seylan SURE’, the popular savings reward proposition brand of Seylan Bank PLC. Aptly titled ‘Seylan Swarna Sawari 2014’, this cycle race attracted 135 participants, 115 men and 20 women all of whom rode standard cycles. There was great enthusiasm in this race and a notable feature was the participation of many professional cyclists and even cyclists from the armed forces. The 70 km race began at the Piliyandala junction. It then went through Horana, Meepe, Padukka, Kottawa, Homagama and ended at the Piliyandala Junction to a rousing welcome. The overall winners in the Men’s and Women’s events won cash prizes of Rs. 65,000/- and Rs. 50,000/- each. Those who came second and third in both events won cash prizes and a rice cooker each. A gas cooker and a pedestal fan were presented to the winners from fourth place to tenth place. Seylan Bank’s popular ‘Seylan SURE’ Rewards Scheme was actively associated with this event. Launched twelve years ago, the ‘Seylan SURE’ Rewards Scheme has significantly touched the lives of tens of thousands of people across the country and given a novel dimension to the concept of savings. The first of its kind in Sri Lanka’s banking industry, this unique rewards scheme was launched way back in 2002 and focuses on four important facets of one’s life – marriage, the birth of children, the birthdays of senior citizens, and, surgery. It has, over the past decade and more, successfully brought a wide range of benefits and rewards to Seylan Bank customers, both young and old, in innumerable ways.
