President congratulates Rio 2016 Paralympic contingent

President Maithripala Sirisena congratulated the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games contingent when they met him at the President’s Official Residence.

The President commended the team for participating at the Paralympic Games amidst many sacrifices by them to make the Motherland proud. “As a Government we will do whatever we can do to uplift the standard of the field of sports,” he added.

The President also presented cash prizes to the sportsmen/women who are participating at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Officials of the Ministry of Sports including the Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara participated in this occasion.
