Mackwoods Ladies Stroke Play Golf Championship from 24 March

The Mackwoods Ladies Stroke Play Golf Championship 2013 will be hosted by Victoria Golf and Country Club together with the governing body for golf in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Golf Union from 24 to 26 March 2013. The Golf Championship is open to all Amateur lady golfers.

The Mackwoods challenge trophy will be awarded to the player returning the lowest aggregate gross score over 54 holes.

Since its inauguration in 1974, Mackwoods Limited has being sponsoring the championship over the years in memory of the first Sri Lankan Chairman N.S.O. Mendis. Since then, the tradition has been followed by his daughter late Sriyani Nonis and grandchildren.

Presently, Chairman Dr. Chris Nonis and Co-Chairman and Jt. Managing Director Nirmalee Samaratunge continue to support the Sri Lanka Golf Union, in their long standing sponsorship of this event. The Mackwoods Stoke Play Golf Championship is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the ladies golfing calendar and much participation and enthusiasm is evident.

Past champions of this prestigious tournament have been the greats of Tiru Fernando, Thuhashini Selvaratnam, Dhinuka Boralessa, Jacky Dias, Suwen Selvaratnam, Niloo Jayatilake and Yvone Abeyratne.

The players will also vie for the Nuwara Eliya Cup which is run concurrently with the tournament which will award the player with the lowest aggregate net score over 54 holes.

Also the bronze cup for the high handicap golfers and many daily prizes will be awarded. An exciting three-day golf waits the Victoria Golf and Country Club Digana.
