LAUGFS Holdings powers Ananda Cricket

Ananda College first XI cricket, for the season 2015/2016, will be sponsored and supported by LAUGFS Holdings Plc.

It was announced on the 5 January 2016 at a press conference held in Colombo. President Ananda College Cricket Wing Gihan Karunaratne thanked LAUGFS Holdings, who is sponsoring the Ananda cricket for the third consecutive year, stating that this will help Ananda cricket to continue with its outstanding contribution towards Sri Lanka cricket and contributions of this nature are required to sustain and improve cricket at school level.

The Principal of Ananda College Kithsiri Liyanagamage thanked LAUGFS Holdings Group Managing Director Thilak De Silva for his contribution, as an old boy, towards Ananda College.

Meanwhile, Thilak De Silva urged all old boys to partner with their alma mater in their endeavours to improve and develop cricket from grassroots level at Ananda College.

The 2014/2015 season showed that Ananda College making significant strides towards past glories which have produced many top teams and outstanding cricketers.

  • The first XI team finished third in the league table and was the top team from the Western Province
  • Champions in the Murali Harmony Cup 2015 for the second consecutive year
  • Under-19 all-island runners-up in the limited over competition
  • All-Island Best Bowler produced by Ananda College in 2015 – Dilanka Sandekan
  • Under-17 Division 1 all-island champions
  • Three players were selected from the Ananda College Under-19 team for the national pool – Shammu Ashan, Nisal Fransisco and Kavishka Anjula
  • Shammu Shan was appointed the Sri Lanka Schools Under-19 Vice-Captain for the season 2015/2016

All the above tournaments were conducted by the Schools Cricket Association through Sri Lanka Cricket.

The above success can be attributed to the active support and participation of the past cricketers through the Ananda College Cricket Wing (ACCW).
