Lamindu Rainika extends his lead in the Open

In the Gold Division Open category yesterday, the Prima Sunrise-sponsored Sri Lanka Junior Golf Championships 2014 saw the hot favourite LaminduRainika with a score of 83, totalling 168 for 2 rounds, extend his lead by 4 strokes even though he did not have the best score for the day. Armand Flamer Caldera however moved up to two places into third position at 171 with the best round of the day of 82. PrashanLakshitha and HirunaSigera exchanged positions as the former also with an 83 improved his score by 2 strokes to be 4 strokes behind the leader at 168 whilst S.Flamin from Kandy held onto 5th position with a much improved 83 to record 174 for the 2 rounds. The Silver Division leader from yesterday SathsaraDilshan also extended his lead to pull way ahead of the rest of the pack by 12 strokes over Taniya Minel after the former improved on his score yesterday by 4 strokes with a 77 in the 2nd round against the latter’s 87 totalled 170 for 2 rounds. DevmithWeeratatne took over 3rd position with a much improved 82 totalling 175 to get a one stroke lead over VinodWeerasinghe who scored 89 to total 176. The Bronze Division too saw yesterday’s leader Nigel Fernando improve by 4 strokes totalling 76 (40+36) and comfortably win this two round event played over 9 holes each day. LevonNiyarapola held on to 2nd place with a 45 totalling 86 whilst TiennKapilasenaat 90 (46+44) displaced K. Danushan 93 (45+48) to take over the third spot. There were 65 juniors vying for the respective titles in the Gold, Silver and Bronze Division.
