Dream comes true for Zahira College with opening of swimming pool

The grand opening of the swimming pool complex, a dream come true for Zahira College, was held recently.

College Principal Mohamed Jiffry Haniffa, Confifi Group Chairman Desamanya M.T.A. Furkhan and Brandix Founder M..mar      H. Omar officiated at the opening.

Jiffry said in his speech Zahira College is great institution and celebrating 120 years. He mentioned his appreciation of work done by old boys in making this project a reality and thanked the swimming pool project chairman Jisthy Fahmi. Jiffry also said swimming is one of the Sunnah of Holy Prophet Muhammad.

Board of Governors Chairman and Old Boys Association President Fouzul Hameed said Zahira College achieved this after 120 years. He appreciated donors and Fahmy’s contribution to the swimming pool project.

He appealed that everyone should come together for the development of Muslim schools in Sri Lanka and stated that Zahira College is one of the best schools currently. He made a special request for all old boys to show their support of education.

Tokens of appreciation were handed over to donors by Hameed and Fahmy.

Distinguished old boys and Senior Minister A.H.M. Fawzi, MP A.H.M. Azwer, Colombo Mayor A.J.M. Muzzamil, Former Ambassadors Nowfel Jabir and M.M. Zuhair, Ex Principal T.K. Azoor, Ash Sheik Arkam Noor Amith, Deputy Principal, Vice Principals, teachers, students and old boys were present at this ceremony. The Secretary of the Swimming Pool Committee and Board of Governor Alavi Mukthar proposed the vote of thanks.
