The inaugural edition of ‘Aqua Vida’ will be held in Negombo this year bringing together over 700 athletes in an exciting and fun-filled festival with live entertainment and activities. The beach sports festival will include a wide range of sports including beach football, beach volleyball, beach waterpolo, beach handball, beach rugby and a sea swim.
The event is scheduled on 14 November at Jetwing Beach, which overlooks a fantastic beach stretch that can accommodate all activities lined up. The festival will include over 10 teams in each of the sporting disciplines, while would also mark the first ever beach waterpolo and handball games to be played on Sri Lankan soil.
The quality of the competition will be undoubtedly high, with the participation of number of national level players for all disciplines, including the top 10 beach volleyball teams in the country.
‘Aqua Vida’ is organised by Clearmark Holdings which also brought the popular prediction app during the recently concluded Rugby World Cup 2015 which added to the excitement of a fantastic tournament. We do not have teams which do good in beach sports or any kind of beach sports festival and we believe this will be a new beginning of a long journey.”
Three-time Olympic Champion and legendary Hungarian water polo player Gergely Kiss will be the Brand Ambassador for the Beach Water Polo Championship where the winners will receive the Gergely Kiss 7’s Trophy.
Water sports activities such as banana boat, jet skiing and para sailing (first time ever in Sri Lanka) will also take places simultaneously, while the festival will also feature a great line up of foreign and local DJs who will provide the perfect atmosphere to light up the festival.
