Young Sri Lankans excel at Sarawak Junior Golf Championship

Sri Lankan junior golfer Kaiyan Johnpillai delivered an impressive performance at the 23rd Sarawak Premier Cup Sarawak International Junior Golf Championship, held at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club in Miri, Malaysia.

Competing in the Boys’ 15–17 age category, Kaiyan finished as second runner-up with a two-round total of 152. He secured third place on countback after finishing level with Malaysian golfer Joshua Lim Zhi Xing.

The championship was reduced to 36 holes after heavy rain forced organisers to abandon the final round. Thailand’s Pranai Reankrai won the Boys’ A title with a total of 143, followed by Malaysia’s Jarvis Liew Zun Xin on 149.

Sri Lanka enjoyed further success at the tournament, with Lavindu Premarathna also finishing as second runner-up in the Boys’ 13–14 age category.

The two podium finishes marked a proud achievement for Sri Lankan junior golf and highlighted the growing potential of the country’s young players on the international stage.
