A depleted NCC side hit by national calls suffered a humiliating 213-run defeat at the hands of Group A wooden spoonists Panadura SC in their SLC Major Club 50-over match played at Panadura yesterday.

Playing a virtual second eleven side with Ahan Wickramasinghe as Captain, NCC were bundled out for 103 in 20.2 overs after Panadura SC had hit up a sizeable total of 316-7 batting first.

Former Sri Lanka Under-19 left-arm spinner Vishwa Lahiru was the pick of the Panadura SC bowlers returning figures of 3/8 off 3 overs.

Panadura SC total was made up of four half-centurions. National cricketer Oshada Fernando leading the side set the pace with 67 off 84 balls (6 fours, 1 six) after Panadura SC had lost their first two wickets for five runs.

The middle-order then took over with Royalist Vimath Dinsara missing out on a debut century by 8 runs when he was dismissed for 92 made off 96 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes). Kanchana de Livera (60 off 67 balls, 6 fours, 1 six) and Sasindu Malshan (50 off 30 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes) helped swell the total with their contributions. Lasith Embuldeniya was NCC’s best bowler with 3/36.
