Chamodi Praboda led Team Red to victory with figures of 4/10

Team Blues led by Sri Lanka women’s Vice-Captain Harshitha Samarawickrama secured their second successive win in the Women’s NSL T20 tournament when they beat Team Green by 26 runs at Thurstan College grounds yesterday.

Harshitha scored 45 off 51 balls (4 fours) and wicket-keeper Kaushini Nuthyanga 31 off 23 balls (3 fours) in Team Blues total of 132-8. Team Green was restricted to a score of 106-8. Piumi Wathsala top scored with 35.

In the meanwhile, Team Grey suffered their second defeat in as many matches when they lost to Team Red by 17 runs in the second game played at the venue.

Team Red batting first managed only a moderate total of 107-8 with Nethagi Isuranjali scoring 23 and Pramudi Nethsara 22*. Team Greys were shot out for 90 falling to skipper Chamodi Praboda’s left-arm spin (4/10). Kaveesha Dilhari contributed half the team’s total with 45 off 39 balls (5 fours). – [ST]
