Team Blues, led by Sri Lanka Vice-Captain Harshitha Samarawickrama, continued their unbeaten run in the Women’s NSL T20 tournament, notching up their third win in as many matches.
In the first match played at the Thurstan College Grounds on Sunday, Team Blues beat Team Reds by 70 runs. Match winners for Team Blues were off-spinners Nethmi Sanjana (4/14) and Dewmi Vihanga (3/11), who put out Team Reds for 64 chasing a target of 135. Sathya Sandeepani (50* off 44 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) and Ama Kanchana (41 off 35 balls, 5 fours) shared a sixth wicket stand of 70 off 60 balls to help Team Blues recover from losing half the side for 59 to total 134-6.
Following two back-to-back defeats, Team Greys recorded their first win with a 35-run win against Team Greens in the second match played at the same venue. Spinners Inoshi Fernando (4/14) and Sanduni Nisansala (3/16) ran through Team Greens for 97 after Team Greys had hit up 132-6, mainly through a second wicket stand of 81 off 69 balls between skipper Vishmi Gunaratne (56 off 52 balls, 4 fours, 1 six) and Imesha Dulani (40 off 34 balls, 5 fours).
