Wilson marked a significant new chapter in Sri Lankan tennis with the official launch of the Wilson Blade V10 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association on 18 July, combining world-class product innovation with a strong commitment to the country’s next generation of players.
Hosted by Wilson Sri Lanka together with Trident Distributors Ltd, the official distributor of Wilson in Sri Lanka, the Wilson V10 launch
brought together leading national players from the Sri Lanka Davis Cup Team, Sri Lanka Fed Cup Team, coaches, officials, young athletes and members of the tennis community for an afternoon of competition, product trials and on-court experiences.
The event’s standout competitive moment came in the inaugural Wilson One-Point Grand Slam, a high-pressure knockout contest in which every match was decided by a single point. Junior athlete Akeesha Silva held her nerve to emerge champion, winning Rs. 100,000 worth of Wilson merchandise.
Guests were also among the first players in Sri Lanka to test the new Blade V10 through structured on-court challenges designed to showcase its control, consistency, touch and match-play performance. The latest evolution of one of Wilson’s most recognised performance racket franchises, the Blade V10 features StableFeel Technology for enhanced stability, feel and connection with every shot.
Beyond the product launch, Wilson announced its new Junior Athlete Sponsorship Program, naming Akeesha Silva and Yuhansa Peiris as its inaugural athletes. Each player will receive a sponsorship package valued at Rs. 4 million over a two-year period, including access to Wilson performance equipment, apparel and continued brand support as they compete and develop at national and international level. Yuhansa and Akeesha will also represent Wilson as brand ambassadors in Sri Lanka.
“To be chosen for this program gives me even more belief in what I can achieve,” said Yuhansa Peiris. “Having Wilson behind me means I can step onto court with world-class equipment and focus on pushing my game to the next level.”
Sri Lanka Davis Cup player Thehan Wijemanne said the initiative could make a meaningful difference to emerging talent. “Young players need more than potential—they need the right support at the right time. Wilson is giving them the tools, confidence and opportunity to aim higher.”
Trident Distributors Ltd., Managing Director Yasser Farook said the launch reflected Wilson’s longer-term vision for tennis in Sri Lanka. “The Blade V10 brings Wilson’s latest performance innovation to our courts, but this launch is about more than a racket. The launch concluded with a celebration of performance at every level—from national representatives and established competitors to two young athletes now stepping into a new phase of their careers. Through the Blade V10 launch and Junior Athlete Sponsorship Program, Wilson reaffirmed its ambition to help strengthen Sri Lanka’s tennis ecosystem through athlete development, community engagement and access to equipment trusted on the sport’s biggest stages.
