Wesley College produced a thrilling 33-29 victory over St. Peter’s College to book their place in the semi-finals of the Dialog Schools Rugby Knockout – President’s Trophy 2026 at Havelock Park last weekend.
In a game filled with drama, intensity, and momentum swings, Wesley emerged as the more composed and clinical outfit when it mattered most.
Fullback Mohamed Fawaz stood out as the match winner, delivering a composed all-round performance while contributing 13 valuable points through three penalties and two conversions.
Wesley made a flying start, racing to a 10-0 lead within the opening minutes, but the Peterites responded strongly to take control midway through the first half. Despite facing setbacks, including yellow cards and injuries, Wesley showed tactical discipline to stay within striking distance at halftime.
The second half saw both sides trading blows, but Wesley’s structured play and forward dominance allowed them to edge ahead in the closing stages.
With this hard-fought win, Wesley advance to the semi-finals as strong contenders, showing the balance, composure, and match-winning ability needed to go all the way and lift the coveted trophy.
