Vidyartha and Sylvester’s lock horns in rugby

Vidyartha College and St. Sylvester’s College will play for the 11th P.M.L. Banda & B. Nillegoda Memorial Trophy in their annual Under 19 rugby encounter at the Bogambara Stadium today (13).

Kick-off is at 4 p.m.

Vidyartha will be captained by Pasindu Rajapaksha and their Head coach is Manoj Wijethunge for this encounter. The outfit is managed by Upul Bandara Weerasinghe.

Meanwhile St. Sylvester’s College is led by Tishan Medagedera with Buddhika Abeysinghe is their Head Coach. Abeysinghe coached Trinity junior and senior assistant coach, Rajans assistant coach, Head Coach of Vidyartha and Sylvester’s at present. Sylvester’s won four out of six encounters ending as Plate runner-up this season.

Vidyartha bagged a clean sweep winning all the previous 10 encounters. Referee Jeewaka Fonseka will handle this vital encounter which will be the last under 19 encounter for the season in Central Hills. (SJ)
