Unbeaten CH and FC will face their toughest challenge of the Inter-Club Rugby League 2025/26 season when they take another title contender, Havelock Sports Club at Havelock Park today, with kick-off scheduled for 3.45 p.m.
Both teams firmly in the championship race, the encounter is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the league standings.
CH have been one of the standout sides this season, maintaining an unbeaten run through convincing victories over Police, Navy, Army and CR, while also sharing points in a dramatic and controversial 24/24 draw against the defending champions, Kandy Sports Club. Their attacking fluency and consistency have established them as genuine title favourites.
Havelocks, however, remain a formidable force despite an up-and-down campaign. After opening with a draw against Navy, the Park Club registered impressive wins over Sri Lions, Air Force and Army, before suffering a setback against CR. Under astute head coach, Saliya Kumara, Havelocks are determined to mount a serious title challenge after several near misses in recent years.
Leadership role will be done by Janidu Fernando and the presence of match-winners such as Azmir Fajudeen, Jayathu Rajarathna and Samuel Maduwantha ensure the hosts remain dangerous. Maduwantha’s kick to touch in order to gain territory and kick at goal will be vital to see the Park Club through.
CH, led by Janidu Dilshan, will be tested by a fired-up home side. While current form may give CH a narrow edge, Havelocks at home are capable of producing a classic contest. CH courtesy of two Fijian who could play in each half plus will be a big ask for the Park Club three quarters to keep them on the check the entire 80 minutes of play.
Referee will be Ishanka Abeykoon.
