Lahiru Udara scored his 16th first-class hundred
Lahiru Udara and Sonal Dinusha two players who made it to the Sri Lanka Test squad against Australia in the recently concluded series but could not break into the final 11 took the limelight on the opening day of the one-off 4-day unofficial test against Afghanistan ‘A’ at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi yesterday.
Udara went onto score his 16th first-class hundred (107 off 138 balls, 14 fours) and Dinusha finished unbeaten on 64 (88 balls, 4 fours, 2 sixes) as Sri Lanka ‘A’ winning the toss and batting first ended the day on 345-8.
Udara and Kamil Mishara (35) laid the foundation for the total with an opening stand of 92. Sri Lanka ‘A’ built on that partnership with contributions of 44 (62 balls, 7 fours) from Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dinusha who added 50 for the seventh wicket with Wanuja Sahan (13).
Seamers Bashir Ahmed and Ziaur Rahman were the pick of the Afghanistan ‘A’ bowlers taking five wickets between them.
The match continues on its second day today.
