Trinity win at hockey; Thomians shine in football

Trinity College beat St. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia in their 19th hockey encounter held at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy recently.

In the Under 16 encounter, Trinity beat Thomians 3/0 which was played for B.S.G. Sahayam Trophy. All three goals were scored by K.P.G. Tharusha Randive of Trinity College.

Best goal keeper of the Under 16 event was Imath Herath of Trinity while best attacking player was Thaursha Randive of Trinity. Trinity was coached by Mohamed Ashraff.

The first XI match between the two schools was played for Warden Neville de Aldi’s Trophy which was won by Trinity College 3/2.

Mohamed Arkam, T. H. Liyanage and Y. Thakshilan scored a goal each for the winners. Thomians goals were scored by L. L. Lakshitha and D. M. A. Clemenc.

Best Goalkeeper was M.B.D.D.P. Gunawardhana of Trinity and Arkam won the best attacking player. Trinity was coached by Mohamed Rifan.

The football encounter between the two schools saw Trinity winning the Under 16 encounter 1/0 and the Under 18 encounter. After ending in 2 a piece draw Thomians won through penalties. Thomians also won the Under 20 encounter 1/0.
