Defending champions Trinity College continued their ruthless march in the Dialog Schools Under-19 Rugby League with a crushing 58/5 win over St. Anthony’s College at the Pallekele Rugby Stadium last weekend.

Running in a remarkable 10 tries, the Trinitians once again underlined why they remain the team to beat this season.

Holding a commanding 32/5 lead at the short breather, Trinity completely outplayed their opponents in all departments. Their forwards laid a solid platform with powerful drives, while the backs capitalised with clinical finishing. This emphatic victory also marked their second half-century score of the campaign, sending a strong warning to the rest of the competition.

However, the Kandy outfit will not have it all their own way, with Wesley College and St. Peter’s College emerging as strong contenders determined to challenge Trinity’s dominance.

Wesley College continued their impressive run with a convincing 36/12 win over Mahanama College at the Air Force Ground in Ratmalana. Leading 19/7 at halftime, the Double Blues maintained their structure and discipline to secure the win, crossing for six tries while restricting their opponents to just two. Their consistency and balanced play make them a serious threat this season.

St. Peter’s College delivered a commanding 50/19 victory over traditional rivals St. Joseph’s College at Bambalapitiya. The Peterites led 28/12 at the break and went on to dominate proceedings, running in seven tries. This win also ensured their continued supremacy in the Father Basil Wiratunga Memorial Shield.
